Job Summary

AECOM are recruiting a EC&I Engineer / Technician to join our established and ever growing Nuclear division of the Water, Ports & Power unit in the Warrington office.

Our Nuclear division is primarily focused on design, management & supervision of multi-discipline projects on all the major clients within the UK, with a primary focus on turn-key solutions to projects often including electrical system design, building services and direct consultancy services.

This position requires an EC&I Engineer / Technician who can apply their skills as an individual, or as part of a team, to deliver projects to the benefit of our Clients.

Inherently the projects are multi-disciplinary and may be at any stage in the project life cycle. Our projects range from client consultancy support, to multi-million pound complete turn-key solutions.

In this role, you will work mainly within a team to deliver drawings, models and documents, you will have guidance but will be expected to make engineering decisions within your own sphere of responsibility.

You will be responsible for the delivery of EC&I designs & engineering within that department, including the production of design drawings, models and documentation.

Minimum Requirements

  • Qualified to a minimum of HNC level – preferably have a relevant engineering degree.
  • Relevant experience and be able to demonstrate sound technical knowledge.
  • Must be able to meet security clearance requirements.
  • Travel to site.

Your previous experience will demonstrate competency in a number of the following areas:

  • Competent user of the current version of AutoCAD (or similar package), a sound understanding of drawing standards and best drawing practice.
  • Design documentation production.
  • An appreciation of mechanical, civil and process systems and the aptitude work within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Deliver project deliverables within timescales, budget constraints and quality expectations.
  • Manage your own work load and technical aspects of the project.


  • A working knowledge of BS7671
  • Low Voltage Electrical Distribution Design

Control and Instrumentation:

  • Design of conventional instrumentation systems (loop diagrams, instrument schedules etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Nuclear experience is advantageous.
  • Experience of commissioning electrical and control systems.
  • Knowledge of safety standards (IEC 61508, 61511, 61513).
  • Client Specific standards (Sellafield, Water Industry, Building Services CIBSE etc.).
  • BS EN 61439 Switch Gear and Control Gear General Rules.
  • Medium / High Voltage Electrical Distribution Design.
  • Competent user of the current version of Revit.
  • Competent user of the current version of Amtech.
  • Competent user of the current version of DIALux.
