Purpose of the job

Provide accurate and timely financial Information while ensuring strong and effective controls are in place.

Be the navigator to the Product Group Director to ensure focus on the achievement of the project financial goals.

Secure Governance and Integrity in all financial reporting of the Projects of their responsibility

This person will be the Business Partner for the Portfolio Project Director, Project Core Team members, Country Business Controlling teams and Finance Shared Service Organization (FSSO)

Strong People management skills will be important as the direct reports to this role should be effectively mobilized to achieve the deliverables of the country or site; particularly with reference to stakeholder relationship management, compliance and process Improvement.

Area of Responsibility

Financial control of the Services TFL Product Portfolio currently 4 major Services Contracts Projects with a total Order backlog of over €500m to be delivered over the next 3 years in addition to this backlog there are 2 fuel contracts which generate c €40m of revenue per year.

Key Responsibilities

Financials & Compliance

  • Responsible for the integrity of the Portfolio Project Financial Information; ensuring quality and timely information is delivered in line with Group and Regional/Divisional expectations
  • Monitoring all Project Costs and addressing variances for all active divisions or business units, recommending possible courses of action to remedy the situation
  • Responsible for the budgeting and forecasting activity of all aspects of the Projects under their Responsibility
  • Ensure that project calculations reflect current status of EAC approved and proposed in Global FORE and prepare EAC change requests.
  • Challenge the project teams to assure a successful project execution.
  • Recommend possible courses of action to mitigate risk or to achieve opportunities
  • Contribute in R&Os/MEP discussion and challenge project inputs
  • Review and challenge cash planning (incl. action plans & follow up)
  • Prepare and update monthly reports and presentation in project review meetings. Attend monthly MOR reviews.
  • Follow-up hedging & bonds requirements for the project and assess impact on EAC.
  • Follow-up on escalation and ensure proper reflection in the EAC.
  • Follow-up warranty provisions and ensure proper reflection in Financials
  • Responsible for coordinating the Long term functional forecasts and Estimate at Completion on Projects – managed jointly with the Site Controller

Stakeholder Management

  • Be a Business Partner for the Product Group Director and the Project Executive Team. Attend Project Core Team meetings and all relevant project meetings
  • Secure on time delivery of information to the various stakeholders e.g. Corporate, Group, Division/Region, Local Management
  • Make financial situation transparent to Project management. Ensure development & deployment of corrective action plans when necessary
  • Regularly review and react to Stakeholder feedback/input with the Project Controlling team.
  • Keep PM continuously updated on financial situation of the entire project and upcoming R&Os. Ensure financial transparency within the PCT.
  • Be the main point of contact for all Financial Issues relating to the Product Group.
  • Coordinate and follow-up all financial matters with internal partners (incl. Interco. matching process)
  • Interface and liaise with Customer Finance organization
  • Ensure proper start-up of new projects (Bid handover, financial set-up…)
  • Follow-up on customer invoicing and ensure timely collection of invoices. Take all necessary actions to limit overdue on Account Receivables

Process Execution & Improvement

  • Ensure standard Global processes are consistently and effectively applied within the Project in all areas of financial governance
  • Achieve efficiency gains through simplifying and standardising processes and optimising the use of the SSC in alignment with Site Controlling, FSSO, B

Core And Group Functions

  • Implement the agreed migration of finance transactional activities into the SSC (shared with FSSO and Site Controlling)

People & Organization

  • Responsible for recruitment, induction and performance management of direct reports
  • Regularly review the organization to ensure the Portfolio Project Controlling team have the correct organizational design to achieve the deliverables in a consistent manner
  • Ensure all PMPs are completed with clear identification of individual training and development plans
  • Work with HR, Site Controlling team, and local A&R team to develop career (path) opportunities for individuals.

Ad Hoc Project Work

  • Involvement in SAP/systems implementation and improvements
  • Involvement in Cross Regional & Group initiatives
  • Involvement in any Ad Hoc requests coming from the Finance hierarchy
  • Involvement with Commercial Discussions with Customers with Project Management Commercial team

Job Requirements

  • Finance degree and/or any relevant professional related qualification
  • 10 years general accounting experience
  • Commercial Experience
  • Deep knowledge of general finance and accounting highly desired (including tax accounting & audit experience…)
  • Experience of BT Finance processes and internal control processes (OSC, CASRA…)
