“The Atkins Architecture & Masterplan practice are looking to appoint an experienced Architectural BIM Coordinator into our Northern England and Scotland team. The role is flexible on location and will be based out of either the Glasgow, Newcastle, Leeds, Warrington or Manchester Offices. The role has been created as a result of business growth within the overall Building Design practice and is a great opportunity for an experienced BIM Coordinator with a passion and understanding of BIM who wants to further develop their career within a forward-thinking organisation.

As a BIM Coordinator you will be working closely with our multi-disciplinary design teams which operate under the Building Design Practice and consist of Architecture, Building Services, Building Surveying, Landscape, Master Plan and Structures. You will support our design teams to deliver a broad mix of projects ranging in size and construction value, on behalf of our clients from both the private and public sectors. You should be meticulous, a team player, work under minimum supervision and able to monitor others and operate in a pro-active way.


  • Support the team with the initial project setup in accordance with internal, industry and client standards
  • Able to write/contribute, implement and maintain BIM Execution Plans, Project Information Standards, Task Information Delivery Plans, Master Information Delivery Plans, Responsibility Matrices, Mobilization Plans, Capability Assessments and Risk Registers.
  • Ensuring project delivery is in accordance with our Building Design Digital Plan of Work and the requirements of the project BIM Execution plan.
  • Technical management and the creation of project BIM data sets, including managing and maintaining project content and sourcing additional content for project teams.
  • Performing clash and coordination detection on behalf of the project and reporting on model coordination issues
  • Monitoring and reporting of resource requirements across the project.
  • Identify project specific training, Mentor and oversee the development of less experienced colleagues and report on knowledge and skills gaps to the Regional BIM Manager.
  • Be proactive in self-development and development of design team members.
  • Liaise with Regional BIM Manager and help deliver project training in software and standard procedures as necessary.
  • Support technician staff to ensure that they are provided with the information, software, hardware, training, and technical support they require to ensure delivery of CAD data to project requirements
  • Liaise with Regional BIM Manager to ensure changes in procedure and standards are effectively communicated to project teams.


  • Knowledge and experience of delivering projects in accordance with the requirements of BIM level 2
  • Knowledge of current industry standards (ISO19650)
  • Have validated experience in Revit.
  • Ideal candidate to come from an Architectural background, i.e. qualified Architect or Architectural Technologist.
  • Have a good understanding of BIM and its direction within the industry.
  • Experience of advanced level collaboration tools (Navisworks, BIM360, Solibri, Revizto etc).
  • Conversant with the mobilisation and management of various CDE solutions, such as Autodesk BIM360, Bentley ProjectWise, Viewpoint 4Projects, Business Collaborator as examples.
  • Have experience as a BIM Coordinator/Information Manager or BIM Lead in the development of coordinated models between disciplines and suppliers.
  • Must be experienced in the federation of BIM models and capable of model checking, running clash and interface management, reporting, and closing out identified issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with parametric modelling software (Dynamo or similar) is desirable but will not hinder suitable applicants and full training can be provided.
  • Experience of developing, maintaining, and updating model checking rulesets for use with Autodesk Model Checker or Solibri is advantageous but will not hinder suitable applicants and full training can be provided.
  • Conscientious, able to work without supervision and proactively manage time.
  • Compliance with CAD/BIM standards and Quality Assurance procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • External BIM Certification by an approved and recognised Industry provider e.g. Operam Academy, ICE, BSi, BRE is advantageous but will not hinder applicants”
