As part of our Nuclear New Build business, our Project Delivery capability team specialises in taking on the most complex engineering projects and opportunities that exist across the board, from technical leadership to project management. With existing relationships with the major operators in the nuclear sector, we offer a hugely stimulating variety of work, within a team which is rapidly developing to support the delivery of new nuclear build. Our projects are on a global scale with opportunities across the UK, Europe and Middle East; across a range of projects in both the Large Civil Nuclear market and the emerging New Nuclear Technologies market.
Due to continued growth supporting our clients in the delivery of the next generation of Nuclear Power, we are seeking Engineering Managers to join our team. Working as an Engineering Manager, you will be working across our Nuclear New Build business, either leading the delivery of Atkins engineering projects or embedded into our clients’ programmes. We are recruiting across a number of locations including Bristol, Epsom and Warrington where you will join a team with a diverse mix of people from all around the world. However, as we support our clients you will be expected to travel and work from client sites across the UK as the role, project or secondment requires.

What you can bring?
The opportunities we have are varied in size and nature and suit a range of engineering backgrounds; but as a consultancy, we are looking for enthusiastic, self-starting individuals who will thrive on being able to adapt and use a combination of engineering best practices and exceptional people management skills, to overcome any challenge that is faced. You must be detail conscious, analytically minded, and able to work constructively with a broad range of stakeholders and teams that are either local to you or distributed across multiple sites.
Typically, the role and responsibilities of an Atkins Engineering Manager will include:
- Leading in the production and review of technical deliverables.
- Building on an ongoing track record of delivery against defined schedule and quality requirements.
- Leading the optioneering of solutions for complex technical problems.
- Breaking complex problems into component parts that can be presented to senior stakeholders.
- Providing realistic pricing and timing estimates on areas of expertise.
- Creating energy and enthusiasm around delivery of results.
- Reviewing, measuring and adhering to procedures and standards set externally/internally.
We Are Looking For Candidates Who
- Have excellent communication skills and motivated by working within a dynamic and diverse project delivery environment.
- Enjoy turning their hand to new challenges and will be keen to learn, whilst also wanting to support others within our multi-disciplinary teams.
- Are able to successfully deliver complex technical packages and solutions to the agreed time, cost and quality requirements.
- Proactively looks for opportunities to improve existing processes and procedures and challenges conventional work methodology.
- Demonstrate involvement and experience of Engineering Management in a Project environment, to deliver outputs/outcomes to agreed time, cost and quality requirements.
- Be able to motivate yourself and teams, deal with conflict, and influence decisions.
- Be willing to travel within the UK and willing to work flexibly with occasional out of hours work to accommodate client requirements.
