Babcock International and Devonport The Management Accounts Assistant role is based within our Devonport Royal Dockyard business area. The role The difference our new Management Accounts Assistant will make As a Management Accounts Assistant, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be responsible for providing key support to the Corporate Services functions, delivering quick and transparent financial data as part of a team to the budget holders, directors and wider group reporting. Day to day, you will be responsible for maintaining financial records for the business areas to support Senior Accountants. You will also extract and analyse general ledger data for inclusion in management accounts, as well as preparing and carrying out initial investigations into budget variances. You will also have responsibility for producing summaries and completing reporting outputs for Senior Management approval and submission. At Babcock, we have a history of helping talent go far. Essential Experience This role is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional to grow their experience, or for a more junior skilled Assistant Accountant to get exposure to a management accountant role and responsibilities.

  • Ability to manipulate and analyse financial data with good attention to detail.
  • Good understanding of process and control, and the ability to identify potential improvements.
  • Experience of financial systems and good excel skills.
  • Finance qualification – AAT Part Qualified / Qualified or equivalent.
  • You will need to satisfy security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving ‘Security Check’ (SC) clearance.
