We currently have a vacancy for an Estates Delivery Project Engineer Graduate Apprentice to join Babcock Clyde Graduate Apprenticeship programme for our 2022 intake.

Working through a 4-year graduate apprenticeship programme, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills, and work towards a recognised degree in this subject in conjunction with Glasgow Caledonian University. Successful candidate will be enrolled with Glasgow Caledonian University and do a mix of work based learning, alongside their academic studies.

If you are successful in your application, your specific areas of responsibility on the programme will include delivering projects to meet safety, time, quality, performance and cost targets, ensuring close liaison with all key stakeholders.

The salary for this role will be competitive, with annual incremental increases upon successful completion of objectives & competencies.


We are looking for candidates who are able to demonstrate the potential to grow and develop their skills, and who can match this with the drive and dedication needed to pursue a successful career in engineering.

Successful applicants will demonstrate a strong aptitude for, and interest in a technical-based subject matter. Specific areas of competency we require are as follows:

  • Qualified to four Highers at grade B or above in Maths & English and 2 two other subjects (or equivalent qualification)
  • Robust work ethic and willingness to take responsibility for personal, academic and vocational development
  • Safety conscious, with high levels of reliability, punctuality and dependability
  • Able to work effectively as a part of a team and to build strong relationships with co-workers

Please note that applicants must meet the Graduate Apprenticeship requirements in line with Skills Development Scotland. Assessment Centres for the 2022 Graduate Apprenticeship programme will be held during April and May 2022. You should ensure that you are available to attend at this time before making your application.

Successful candidates will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements and will be required to complete a medical assessment.

The role will be in an environment regulated by Trade Control legislation and involve working with controlled goods, technology and/or services. This may require you to meet enhanced security and regular screening checks.

Description of Location

This role is based at HMNB Clyde, located at Faslane, north of Helensburgh in the West of Scotland. We are well placed for commuter links to Glasgow and the wider region, with easy access for car and public transport. For the entirety of year one of the Apprenticeship programme and thereafter on a day release basis, successful candidates will be based at a college in the Clyde region.
