Document Controller

Location: Ellesmere Port

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the receipt of project documentation from the client
  • Create hierarchy & storage of all documentation within project drive
  • Converting information from project teams into user-friendly documents
  • Numbering and labelling documents for identification and reference
  • Scanning, copying and distributing documents to project team members and stakeholders
  • Tracking documents to maintain confidentiality
  • Reviewing documents and making revisions for accuracy
  • Liaising with project team members to ensure documents meet requirements
  • Training document specialists and other employees on document systems
  • Document controller is a controller responsible for the timely, accurate and efficient preparation and management of documents
  • Control the numbering, sorting, filing, storing and retrieval of both electronic and hard copy documents produced by technical teams, projects or departments
  • Compile controlled documents containing all the safety, engineering, construction & other information necessary to ensure project works be completed in a controlled manner


  • Deliver a broad range of administrative and technical clerk services
  • Sound understanding of configuration management and change control concepts
  • Organisational skills, personal flexibility and drive to key activities through to completion
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office applications, Excel and internet-based depositories for information
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Drive and flexibility to support team to achieve readiness for critical project activities and support
  • Completion and Handover documentation of the asset back to the client
  • Demonstrate a proactive approach and positive attitude

Qualifications And Experience

  • Previous experience in a similar role ideally involved with projects and document control and experience working with another Engineering, Power, Chemical or Energy Company would be desirable
  • High standard of computer literacy
  • Desirable: NVQ 3 in Administration or comparable
