Location: Warrington or Middlesbrough

Bilfinger UK is currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join the UK engineering business in Warrington. The role will be working within the HPC engineering team with specific responsibility for specification and design development for A222 Special Piping Items.

Job Description

  • Have a strong background in Engineering Construction design
  • Able to work effectively in an engineering team
  • Carry out all Engineering and Design activities within a multi discipline environment
  • Make independent decisions on issues, providing expert technical support within and across all Engineering disciplines
  • Able to carry out Engineering works using their own initiative, to the agreed milestones, budgets and quality targets
  • Should be able to identify Engineering scope change and effectively manage the process of change control
  • Able to supervise junior Engineers and Designers within their own discipline
  • Be responsible for ensuring quality in all Engineering designs and projects including, the checking of discipline design deliverables to company procedures
  • Comply with all BUK safety rules and CDM requirements for design work, including: design reviews, RAMS, safety studies and Client requirements
  • Comply with all BUK company processes and procedures

Discipline Specific

  • Shall be able to produce and supervise production of detailed Mechanical specifications and scopes of work, Mechanical design drawings, Mechanical schedules and Mechanical calculations.
  • Experience in the application and use of piping design codes ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3 and BS EN 13480.
  • Carry out the roles of originator and checker for mechanical/ piping design documents.
  • Responsible for ensuring effective delivery of all aspects of mechanical and piping engineering design within the project where you hold the lead role
  • Excellent communication, in particular presentation of technical information.
  • Management of design change control and reporting to Client.
  • Co-ordinate and provide accurate information feedback to design teams.
  • Conduct regular progress meetings with design and construction teams and managing the interface between disciplines.
  • Interfacing with Client, Sub-contractors and Vendors.
  • Client focussed and able to forge open, honest and transparent relationships with them.
  • Carry out all Engineering and Design activities in accordance with BUK approved design guides & procedures, client requirements and British/European Standards / Codes of Practice
  • Prepare specifications and requisitions for equipment
  • Carry out design, calculation and studies relevant to the engineering discipline

Experience & Qualifications

  • HNC / HND in an Mechanical Engineering Discipline
  • Masters or Bachelors MEng/BEng Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Preferred)
  • Experience in Mechanical Engineering and Design
  • Experienced in layout design for nuclear power plants (Preferred)
  • Experienced in industrial piping
  • Basic knowledge in CAD tools (Autocad, Solidwork, PDMS) for designer coordination
  • Familiar with technical drawing rules, manufacturing drawings
  • Knowledge in machining would be advantageous (Preferred)
