The Team

The Investment Trust Accounting Department exists to provide the timely and accurate production of all management and financial accounts information for the assigned Investment Trust Clients. This support includes any ad hoc requests from clients which will be billed as appropriate

The Role

The purpose of the role is to be responsible for the timely and accurate production of all management and financial accounts information for the assigned Investment Trust Clients. Also, the role holder will support the team leader with the management of team members including development and performance. They will understand and ensure compliance with the Company’s Control Framework (AAF) within the department

The Responsibilities

Operational Excellence

  • To meet client KPIs and service delivery commitments
  • To review and sign-off team deliverables including but not limited to:
  • Daily and Monthly Net Asset Value (NAV) calculations
  • Client payments
  • Monthly checks and management accounts
  • Management fee calculations
  • Performance fee calculations
  • Accrual calculations
  • Statutory accounts
  • Board papers including revenue estimates
  • Other ad hoc information for fund managers, boards and others as required.
  • VAT Returns
  • ONS Returns
  • Timely completion of internal team management information
  • Participate in client and internal change activity as required ensuring no detrimental impact to client service delivery

Client Focus

  • Day to day production contact with Clients, Auditors, Custodians and other departments within BNP Paribas Securities Services
  • Ensure understanding and compliance with client SLAs and internal delivery deadlines
  • Review/assist in planning and preparation of interim and final financial statements (including tax computations)

Risk and Control

  • Assess team processes to improve efficiency, control and to reduce risk
  • Timely completion and control of all team information including group in-box
  • Support Head of Department, Manager and Team Leaders in ensuring that all significant activities are documented within procedures, kept up-to-date and recorded on the procedures database
  • Support both Manager and Team Leader in ensuring all checklists utilised in review and sign off clearly document controls and are kept up-to-date
  • Have understanding and ensure compliance with Company’s Internal Control Framework, including documentation of control incidents, ensuring that preventative actions are communicated and embedded
  • Support training and development of team members
  • Timely escalation of any issues to Team Leader
  • Corrective and preventative action if deadlines / quality standards are at risk
  • Maintaining training and continuing competency (T&C)

Essential

The Requirements

  • Qualified accountant
  • Sound technical experience in preparation of statutory accounts under UK GAAP and IFRS. Financial services experience would be an advantage
  • Experience in related role
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills
  • Advanced numerical skills and accounting knowledge
  • Excellent knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Solid problem solving skills
  • Time management and planning skills
  • Excellent computer literacy including spreadsheet skills
  • Being responsible, reliable and accountable
