An Accounts Assistant is required to join the Transport Ltd Financial Accounting & Reporting team in Manchester, supporting the delivery of accurate & complete reporting requirements with the timely close of the month end process.

This position will support the Finance Manager & Senior Accountant with key tasks including the preparation of the monthly management accounts, balance sheet and profit & loss analysis.

As Accounts Assistant Your Responsibilities Will Be To

  • Preparation of month-end journals for fixed assets, leases, accruals & prepayments, intercompany and other areas.
  • Review and perform variance analysis on balance sheet and profit and loss accounts during the month end close process
  • Liaising with appropriate business stakeholders on review & correction of general ledger entries
  • Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assist with internal and external audit preparations where required
  • Support the reporting team with adhoc duties as & when required

The Ideal Accounts Assistant Will Have

  • Ideally Part-Qualified Accountant
  • 2-3 years in a similar accounting position
  • Experience working in a corporate environment (desirable)
  • Excellent Excel Skills
  • Previous month end reporting experience
  • Working to strict deadlines
  • Capable of working independently as well as working in a team
  • Willingness to undertake further study
  • Experience with SAP is desirable but not essential
  • Team player
  • Good communication skills
  • Working to strict deadlines
  • Attention to detail
  • Determined, self-motivated and resilient – the ability to multi-task, prioritise, work under pressure, meet deadlines and adapt to a fast-paced and busy environment
