The Director of Flight Training and Standards leads the flight operations training and standardization programs and provides leadership and direction to ensure best practice SOP, reliability, operational efficiency, and above all, safety. The Director of Flight Training and Standards is responsible for supervising, directing, and coordinating job performance and activities of the Training and Standards teams. The Director maintains compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations and Company policies and procedures. This role is also responsible for creating and maintaining relationships with FAA, TSA, and Airline Pilots Association (ALPA) leaders.)
Here’s What You’ll Do
- Responsible for design and delivery of pilot initial, recurrent, upgrade, transition and other training programs
- Develop comprehensive business plan for the organization of the department and detail the road map for each program
- Partner with other departments to ensure policies, procedures and training are in alignment with regulatory and company policies.
- Responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of standard operating procedures (SOP) in ground and flight operations
- Responsible for the development and currency of appropriate manuals, including the CFM and QRH as well as associated revision processes
- Work closely with Maintenance Engineering on aircraft specific changes
- Responsible for all software, hardware, and avionics currency on the fleet(s)
- Responsible for the development and management of the Functional Check Flight (FCF) program
- Select and manage Check Pilots, APDs (W/APM) and FCF/Technical pilots
- Responsible for the Internal Audit Program (IAP) for Flight Operations
- Responsible for fleet oversight including maintaining checklists, briefing cards, revision processes, and aircraft distribution process
- Produce content for flight operations manuals, including MEL/CDL, W&B, NEF, Ground Deicing procedures, new service launch, Breeze 10-7 charts, etc.
- Issue Flight Operations Alerts and informational bulletins, as appropriate modify Operations Specifications to meet operational changes
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of Check Pilots and APDs to ensure consistency and standardization
- Coordinate and conduct Check Pilot and Instructor standardization and regulatory required meetings
- Manage the Operational Experience (OE)/Line Check programs
- Ensure currency and adequate utilization of Check Pilots and APDs, including right seat flying, evaluation of Check Pilot candidates, etc.
- Coordinate with the Training and Safety departments to collect and analyze flight operations and pilot training data to validate the training programs and measure compliance with operational policies and procedures
- Establish and maintain an open and transparent working relationship with the FAA, POI, and APM with the objective of fostering a collaborative safety culture in all operational and compliance matters
- Perform SMS Safety Assurance and Safety Risk Management functions
- Develop procedures for special aircrew qualifications – HGS, Cat II/II, RNP AR, ETOPS, LRN, Etc., as appropriate
- Maintain Jeppesen contracts
- Maintain Check Pilot, APD, and line flying qualifications and currency
- Achieve performance measures and adhere to establish standards in conjunction with Breeze’s core values of Safety, Kindness, Integrity, Ingenuity and Excellence

Here’s what you need to be successful
Minimum Qualifications
- FAA ATP with 121 Check Pilot experience and successful completion of the Breeze Airways E-195 or A-220 type rating course
- Previous experience in a flight operations management position with a demonstrated ability to manage large-scale projects meeting regulatory compliance requirements
- Extensive experience interfacing regularly with the FAA to ensure all checking, certification, and currency maintenance activities meet strict regulatory compliance
- Experience with the development and management of 14CFR 121 Air Carrier Programs

- Extensive experience with SMS voluntary safety programs – FOQA, ASAP, VDRP, etc.
- Knowledge of appropriate FAA Advisory Circulars, Orders, and Handbooks
- Simulator/Line Check Pilot, APD Experience
- 4-year college degree (preferred)
