The Opportunity
As our GIS Analyst, you will be responsible for leading on initiatives and prototypes using Cadent’s GIS (Graphical Information Systems) systems, dataset and processes to generate new and improved insights to help generate efficiencies and improve overall company performance. Accountable for leading on complex problems working with [spatial/ time-series] data, embedding related analytical processes and techniques and being the expert for [spatial/ time-series] data related questions or initiatives.
What we ask of you
- Be accountable for developing analytics and advanced analytical models to help solve business problems and generate insights to help improve overall efficiency and effectiveness of activities
- Develop and maintain data inventories and mechanisms, generating value in the use of unstructured Data in particular imagery, video and sentiment data
- Provide expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining and data visualisation techniques to support business stakeholders to extract insight and value from their data and improve data-driven decision making. Build and design experiments to merge, manage, interrogate and extract specialist reports and insights and then communicate the results in a clear and coherent fashion to stakeholders
- Work independently to assess the effectiveness of data sources and data-gathering techniques and improve data collection methods, stay up to date with the latest technology, techniques and methods, conduct research leading to the development of prototypes and proof of concepts. Look for opportunities to use insights/ datasets/ code/ models across other functions in the organisation (for example in the HR or Finance)
- Be accountable for exploring and demonstrating ways in which Cadent can maximise business value from its GIS systems and data. Provide expert input into the development of GIS roadmaps owned by PLAN.
What You’ll Bring
- Qualified to Degree Level, preferably in Data Sciences, Mathematics or other sciences related discipline or possessing relevant experience of manipulating GIS systems and datasets, solving complex problems and added value to business operations
- Experience of working with solving business-related problems using data-driven techniques, working with a variety of programming languages, including SAS, R and Python
- Experience of working with GIS tools such as Esri and familiar with GIS concepts and best practice
- Strong communicator of complex information, self-motivated, able to work independently on complex problems. Analytical qualities and a proactive mentality to find solutions to problems that are not obvious
