Our Gabon-based Geosciences team are seeking a Data Management Analyst who will be responsible for managing the data related to: Subsurface (Geology, Petroleum Engineering and Geophysics), Wells Engineering and Production Engineering. This opportunity is for a 12 month CDD contract with option to extend or conversion to CDI.

In this capacity, you will be responsible for managing technical data to support studies in field development and opportunity maturation. The data in scope includes but is not limited to well and reservoir modelling, logs and petrophysical analysis data such as well headers, porosity, permeability, reservoir architecture, data derived from geochemical samples, cuttings, wireline data, MWD, borehole, sonic and core data and metadata such as Unique Well Identifiers and well coordinates

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure all data is loaded and managed in appropriate Master Data stores and Corporate Data, including core shed
  • Take clear ownership to support and troubleshoot any issues
  • Ensure all tasks are managed to a successful conclusion and communicated to the customer
  • Ensure consistency of data in all related stores, and the relation between them by carefully managing metadata, for example Unique Identifiers and coordinates. Monitor data quality.
  • Coach and guide the local user community, manage technology-driven change and actively contribute to the take-up of corporate standards for information management,
  • Develop visual reports, KPI scorecards, and dashboards using Power BI desktop.
  • Connect multiples data sources, importing data, and transforming data for business analysis. Analytical thinking for translating data into informative reports and visuals.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of internal processes/procedures and individual projects
  • Lead training sessions and share learnings on Power BI among business teams

Requirements

In order to be successful in this capacity you must possess the following competencies and experience:

  • Bsc. Degree or equivalent in a relevant Petroleum Engineering technical discipline, e.g. Geology, Petroleum Engineering combined with extensive experience in a similar capacity of Data Manager which also includes data preparation and data warehousing projects.
  • You must have proven ability to troubleshoot data integrity problems and be fully conversant with all principles and practices involved in development and maintenance of Data Management solutions.
  • Significant experience with Power BI Desktop development and integration with SharePoint.
  • Whilst this is a role for an individual contributor and the ability to work independently is essential, ultimately you must be able to work effectively as part of a team and have a customer-oriented approach.
  • Knowledgeable in matters related to: data security, data governance, confidentiality, etc.
  • You must be able to communicate fluently in both English and French and posses the ability to translate complex data issues in to actionable plans.
