About the job

To be an adviser you will have first trained as a Face to face Gateway Assessor and will have carried out that role for a period of time. It is a varied role in which you will interview clients. You might then provide the client with information from the Citizens Advice information system and other sources, explaining choices and consequences. In some circumstances practical help to the client will be required by writing letters, making phone calls, completing forms and doing calculations. There will be times when referral to other agencies is necessary for better placed help. And the identifying of common issues thereby preventing future problems. In addition, it will be necessary to keep records of client cases.

People with good listening and explaining skills who are polite and approachable, open minded and non-judgemental. People required should have a desire to help others solve their problems within the principles of providing free, independent, impartial and confidential advice. The role will require research to be undertaken and the understanding of documents and detailed information. Good office and PC skills are beneficial The role will require between 3 and 6 hours per week
