Your new role
As a children’s Domiciliary Carer, you will be supporting children and young people between the ages of 6-18 with a variety of complex and profound disabilities and learning difficulties such as Autism, Downs Syndrome and Cerebral Palsy. Typically, the working day will start as early as 7am, meeting the child at their home, liaising with parents, and taking the child out for the day. Your daily duties may include feeding and tube feeds, manual handling (lifts & hoist’s), personal care, and assisting the children in day-to-day life. It is imperative that carers partake in the children’s interests as to not only ensure that they are cared for but to ensure that all children in you care are extremely happy.
What You’ll Need To Succeed
It is essential that all applicants have a minimum of 6 months referenceable experience working with children in the last two years in an educational or social setting. To be successful with your application you will also need:
- A kind, caring, and nurturing nature
- A passion for helping vulnerable children
- A calm and patient approach
- A strong desire to make a positive impact
- An NVQ in Social Care/Support Worker is advantageous but not essential
Access to a vehicle is an advantage but not necessarily a requirement. You must also have 2 satisfactory references we can obtain.
