Your role as The Department of Administrative Services is core to supporting a $131M organization with approximately 600 employees, approximately 430 of which are members of three unions (AFSCME, IAFF, and FOP).

The Director of Administrative Services provides leadership, supervision, support, and guidance to three bureau chiefs who deliver Accounting, HR, and IT services that support all of the City’s operations.

You will play an integral role in leading this team to support the financial, human, and technical needs of the organization in service to the City and its vision to create a stronger, more equitable city.

Position Requirements

  • A Master’s degree in business administration, public administration, or similar is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, public administration, public policy, business administration, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university will be considered.
  • Extensive leadership and fiscal management experience is required.
  • 7 to 10 years of progressive responsibilities in the public or private sector is desired or a combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and effectively communicate a functionally aligned vision and strategy and gain the respect and trust of key constituents in executing.
  • Positive teambuilder with a demonstrated ability to support, mentor, and build high-performance administrative teams.
  • Commitment to customer (internal) service, effectively seeking out and encouraging feedback to continuously improve services and capabilities in response to the diverse needs of departments and bureaus.

Residency is required by municipal code unless approved by Council.
