We are seeking a highly motivated echocardiographer to join our friendly and dynamic team, providing high standards of care and support to patients in Hywel Dda University Health Board and across the mid Wales region.

Our echo department delivers both transthoracic echocardiography and complex echocardiography techniques such as transoesphageal and contrast echo with plans to develop dotutamine and exercise stress echocardiography. In addition, we deliver pacemaker implant and follow up services and a range of non-invasive diagnostic investigations. Our vision is to expand services to encompass a broader range of diagnostics over the wider mid Wales region.

Although the post is advertised as a band 7, applicants who do not currently meet the skills and competences for the band 7 role, are encouraged to apply and, if successful, will be appointed under Annex 21 rules supported by a development plan for 2 years. During the first year payment will be 70% of the top rate of band 7 pay with the second year being at 75% (subject to criteria within the development plan being met). Following successful completion and successful attainment of skills and competences for the role the post holder will then be paid at band 7 minimum point on the scale. Continued support and supervision will be provided in order to develop the practitioner to the band 7 role. Failure to achieve the competencies in the designated timeframe could result in re-deployment.

This position offers the opportunity to develop as a clinical leader and understand wider processes involved in service delivery. We are seeking a candidate that shares our Health Board values and commitment to ensuring the quality of our services.
