About The Opportunity

Jacobs Wind O&M team covers a 150MW portfolio of wind farms across the UK. Our capability has grown steadily over recent years and we have substantial hands-on experience of operating and maintaining turbines of varying type and age from multi-megawatt full converter turbines to a variety of older types. The wind O&M business sits within Jacobs Field Services in the UK which operates as a truly multidiscipline contractor, providing design, installation, commissioning and maintenance services.

Services provided by the Wind O&M team include; scheduled and unscheduled turbine maintenance, fault finding, spares management and procurement, major repairs including gearbox, generator, yaw gear and blade replacement, turbine erection and dismantling and asset condition inspections. Our site management services typically include regular site inspections, site inductions, HV network management and switching, emergency response, management of balance of plant maintenance, SCADA monitoring and reporting, site work control including operation control under the Wind Turbine Safety Rules.

The role involves managing a proactive team of blue and white collar workers on a day-to-day basis for the business reporting directly to the Operations Manager. Your role will require you to liaise and coo-ordinate with our clients and arrange the maintenance and fault response works associated with multiple windfarms across the companies portfolio.

Based primarily at our Barton upon Humber office with regular attendances to current Blyth Office or client windfarm sites as well as on numerous sites and Jacobs offices around the UK. You will work in the role of a Project Manager engaging directly with multiple clients, overlooking budgets and programmes being accountable for delivering contracts and supporting our tendering, engineering, and design departments to deliver projects safely, on time, and on budget whilst adding value through innovation and best practices.

Key Responsibilities include

  • Liaise with clients, supervisors, service providers and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee resource and logistics management.
  • Prepare / approve technical and health & safety documentation.
  • Prepare / approve monthly operational reports
  • Prioritise works to maximise site performance and availability.
  • Development of technical solutions and initiatives for the benefit of wind farm performance and safety.
  • Oversee work control and parts management systems.
  • Assist with SCADA data acquisition and technical reporting
  • Monitor and report on spend against budgets. Identify contract and variation scope.
  • Undertake HSE / Technical audits.
  • Primarily office based but work from home is feasible.
  • Willing to travel around the UK from time to time


  • Strong Experience in Windfarm and renewables Industry Environments
  • Preferably Degree qualified or HND in Engineering
  • Some knowledge of wind turbine technologies or other renewables technologies is preferable.
  • Management and Leadership qualification
  • Recognised Safety qualification desirable
  • Knowledge and working understanding of Wind Turbine Safety Rules.
  • Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of relevant Health and Safety and Environment legislation including CDM and the actions required to achieve compliance here.
  • Robust Knowledge of Project Management processes and techniques.
  • Operating knowledge of standard Microsoft IT packages.
  • Applicants should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work in project teams.
