We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team as a Research Officer on a project funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). People living with dementia (PLWD) are more likely to have cancer diagnosed at a more advanced stage and as an emergency, are less likely to have their cancer referred to secondary care and are at greater risk of undertreated cancer-related pain. We are undertaking a qualitative research project to examine the challenges around cancer recognition, referral, and management for PLWD, and identify potential ways to address these, from the perspective of GPs and other clinicians, PLWD, and family carers. Main duties as the project Research Officer will include recruiting and interviewing PLWD, family carers, GPs, and other primary and community care clinicians, and contributing to analysis and write-up of the findings. You will work closely with the principal investigator (Dr Laura Ashley, Reader in Health Psychology) and colleagues from the Leeds Beckett University Centre for Dementia Research (Professor Claire Surr & Dr Rachael Kelley). The start date for this role is 1st February 2023 and it is fixed-term for 15 months. Flexible working is permitted provided the requirements of the job can be met (e.g., home-based working). Also, it may be possible to appoint at reduced hours than the advertised 26 hours per week. This can be discussed at interview.
