We are looking for an experienced and ambitious Senior Tax Manager to join a highly experienced


As a Senior Tax Manager, you will work as part of the Digicel Pacific Group’s finance team to support commercial decision making through the provision of tax advice in relation to major business initiatives, mergers and acquisitions, projects and other transactions, with a focus on the hub markets in Fiji, Samoa, Vanuatu, Tonga and Nauru. This role reports to the Chief Financial Officer for HUB markets (Fiji, Samoa, Vanuatu, Tonga, and Nauru) and will be responsible for successfully delivering the following critical outcomes:

·         Tax Support Provided & Accounts Maintained

o   Liaised with auditors on tax & external audits of statutory accounts 

o   Tax notes disclosure assisted with

o   Liaised with local tax authorities on tax audits and disputes in conjunction with the Regional Head of Tax

o   Legal contracts for tax clauses are reviewed

o   Tax planning opportunities are identified and implemented with assistance from external tax advisors (assist de-risk of business)

o   Tax policies and strategies are reviewed, and recommendations made

o   Standard reporting templates for tax are developed and refined

o   Cash tax forecast and budget are prepared and reviewed

o   Liaise with relevant tax authorities, and specialist legal and tax advisers as required

o   Good relationship with the tax authorities in each of the jurisdictions maintained

o   Tax & compliance accountant effectively supervised

o   Continuous collaboration with senior management on projects and other assignments Leadership and Department Managed Effectively

·         Monitoring and Reporting ensured

o   All statutory tax filings are prepared and filed on time

o   Continuous collaboration with the finance team to ensured                            

o   Month end balance sheets reconciliations relating to tax are prepared and submitted on time

o   Review of (quarterly) tax pack/calculations conducted

o   Tax returns prepared by tax accountant e.g., VAT/CT, FBT, telecom levy etc. reviewed

·         Operational and Statutory Compliance

o   Statutory compliant to laws and regulations

o   Operationally compliant to the organisation’s policies and procedures

·         Financial reports produced

o   Produce regular financial and other reports for senior management and auditors

o   Provide ad hoc financial reports as required

·         Operational and statutory compliance

o   Statutory compliant to laws and regulations                  

o   Operationally compliant to the organisation’s policies and procedures

The person we seek should have a minimum of five years’ tax experience in a “Big 4” accounting firm, law firm or industry environment. The applicant must possess the following:

·         Degree in law or commerce

·         Experience in drafting and reviewing agreements (e.g., tax clauses)

·         Strong systems and communication skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office

·         Experience dealing with Tax Authorities including negotiating with authorities and managing tax audits and disputes

·         Exposure to tax systems within the Pacific and indirect taxes (GST/VAT) is desirable

·         Previous experience in Telecom Industry preferable.
