Role: PMO Analyst(s)

Salary : £27,000 up to £45,000 dependent upon experience

Other benefits: Bonus of 8% on target up to 16% plus healthcare, 38 days holiday, pension and flexible benefits

Job Type : Variety of Permanent and 12 month Fixed Term Contracts available

Location: Various locations (Wythall, Telford, Edinburgh, Basingstoke). A hybrid model is currently in operation, so you must be able to come on to site at one of these locations.

Our Change portfolio for 2022 aligns to the ambition of Phoenix’s further growth ambitions and to support this, PMO are recruiting for Project Analysts.

We’re looking for experienced, confident Project Analysts, to work closely with the Project Management team (Manager or Director) in supporting the successful delivery of one or more projects or programmes, to time, cost and quality targets throughout the project lifecycle. You will ensure there is robust set up and maintenance of project governance and controls in line with the Phoenix Change Management Framework standards. You will be experienced in all or most aspects of project delivery control area’s e.g. reporting and governance submissions, financials, resource management, RAID management, Change Controls etc. and take full ownership and responsibility of the controls driving them from end to end. If you have specialisms in any one of these, whereby you can demonstrate prior experience, articulate the control and its value effectively, quickly assess the weaknesses of current practice and develop and implement remedial solutions, please apply and draw this out in your application.

Key Responsibilities

  • To understand and communicate the Phoenix Change portfolio, and help identify conflicts and synergies across the portfolio
  • Coordinates Steering Group Reports and other key management information reports and prepare these reports on an on-going basis on behalf of the project/programme manager
  • Support the identification and monitoring of risks ensuring standards are adopted for their effective management, as well as challenging accuracy and completeness
  • Support the operation of a resource management strategy ensuring resource plans are maintained and resource gaps escalated to the Project Manager
  • Proactively manage project costs, through accurate forecasting and review of monthly spend, including payment of invoices, where appropriate
  • Set up and maintain appropriate Documentation/Configuration Management systems following the necessary framework standards
  • Support the integration of project and programme information, facilitating identification, awareness and monitoring of key dependencies (both internal and external), assumptions and constraints impacting the project, referring any risks or issues to the Project Manager
  • Facilitate and support project planning, including development of robust project plans, identification of key milestones, dependencies, critical path, risks and assumptions, ensuring planning standards are followed
  • Managing conflicting priorities at all times, and communicating clearly across the project and sub-portfolio where priorities and interests may be in conflict
  • Ensuring Governance and controls are put in place and maintained through all stages of delivery
  • Experience of supporting projects or programmes or portfolios from inception to closedown.

Essential

What We’re Looking For

  • Education – A level or above
  • Relevant experience in PMO or specialised areas i.e. resource management, financial control/budgeting

Desirable

  • Hiring Manager to add in desirable criteria
  • P30 qualification or a Project Management qualification e.g. APM, PMI

Key Competencies

  • Technical – PMO

Strong knowledge and demonstrable experience in managing all key delivery controls (end to end) and governance.

  • Analytical Skills

Use of a variety of diagnostic techniques to understand a situation/issue/problem by breaking it down and tracing the root cause/underlying implications in a methodical step-by-step way.

  • Stakeholder Management

Interprets and influences both the external and internal environments by creating positive relationships with stakeholders through the appropriate management of their expectations and agreed objectives.

  • Planning and Organising

Organises, prioritises and, where applicable, delegates work activities to efficiently accomplish tasks and meet objectives. Includes the principles of time management and multi-tasking.

  • Project / Programme Management

Plans, initiates, executes, controls and closes projects /programmes /portfolios of work in a disciplined manner. Tracks and manages resources, timelines, costs, deliverables and performance.
