Procurement Supervisor

The role of a procurement supervisor requires constant attention to detail and an eye for quality. They are responsible for overseeing the purchasing process for their company or organization, ensuring that all purchases adhere to established policies and procedures.

Procurement supervisors may also be tasked with developing new policies and procedures related to purchasing to improve efficiency or effectiveness.

A procurement supervisor typically has a wide range of responsibilities, which can include:

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the organization’s purchasing policies and procedures
• Monitor compliance with internal controls and external regulations
• Review requisitions and purchase orders for accuracy and completeness
• Negotiate pricing and terms with vendors, suppliers, and contractors
• Select vendors based on price, quality, and delivery speed
• Prepare and issue contracts
• Manage inventory levels and stock to ensure the availability of materials
• Resolve issues with vendors and suppliers in a timely and professional manner
• Train and supervise procurement staff
• Develop and implement strategies to improve efficiency and effectiveness
• Prepare reports for senior management
• Participate in budget planning and forecasting

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field
• 5 years of experience in procurement or a related field.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to think strategically.
