You will join our Buildings department

As a new Director, you will be part of a highly dynamic 300-strong multi-disciplinary offering across the North of England, with offices in Chester, Leeds and Manchester.

You will be responsible for leading on the Infrastructure Engineering design for projects led by this discipline or projects led by other departments where Ramboll’s offering is multi-disciplinary.

About The Role

Ramboll is looking for an experienced Director to support the growth of our multi-disciplinary offering across Chester, Leeds and Manchester, building on our strong capabilities in commercial, residential, education, healthcare, heritage, industrial, defence and government projects.

Ramboll has ambitious growth plans in the UK and its offices in the North of England are central to these growth plans. Our multi-disciplinary teams offer a wide range of services to our clients including amongst others; civil engineering, building structures, building services, sustainability, environmental, geotechnical, highways engineering, transport planning, facades, acoustics and project management services.

Our Chester, Leeds and Manchester offices are all located with easy access to the city centres and their cafes, restaurants and shops. We have ample cycle storage and shower facilities to aid your commute or freshen up after a lunchtime run around the city. Working with the leading architects we are recognised for our bold innovative approach, that is underpinned by our Scandinavian design heritage and foundation ownership.

Main Role Responsibilities

Your key tasks and responsibilities will be

  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the Infrastructure team, both from a commercial and technical perspective.
  • Develop and grow the team, in conjunction with the other discipline team leaders and their growth strategies.
  • Raise the profile and reputation of Ramboll’s multi-disciplinary capability in the regional market, the UK and internationally.
  • Lead, design and deliver coordinated infrastructure design solutions for major projects in the UK
  • Develop and review of feasibility studies, technical reports, detailed designs and production of contract documents
  • Develop innovative drainage strategies for clients, promoting sustainability and zero carbon
  • Proven ability in financial arrangements for projects including fee forecasting, fee preparation, and allocation
  • Demonstrate excellent experience, ability and mentoring in UK drainage design, SuDS and relevant software 
  • Apply and promote policies relating to health and safety (including CDM Regulations), quality, and training
  • Mentor and develop team members and work across the business to stimulate collaboration

  • Bachelors/Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer with the Institution of Civil Engineers, having a proven and demonstrable track record in your discipline
  • Proficient in leading and managing all aspects of project delivery leading strategic and detailed design of infrastructure projects
  • High degree of technical competence with demonstrable appreciation of sustainable design
  • AutoCAD proficient and expertise in MicroDrainage modelling system or equivalent hydraulic design tools
  • A confident and professional manner, coupled with excellent communication skills, with clients and colleagues alike, to ensure clarity in all situations and to effectively influence
  • Impressive client facing skills, experienced at presenting to clients, preparing and negotiating proposals, and procuring project resources
  • You are experienced at working in a BIM environment and using digital design tools and techniques
