This role is an opportunity to own, manage and optimise some of the highest footfall spaces in store: ensuring that we adjust to customer mindset, showcase our very best value, support our stores operationally and unlock value with our suppliers.

3 key areas

Drive end-to-end delivery of strategic change projects

Seek continuous optimisation and improvement of our flexible space

Develop and deliver a flexible space plan which aligns to our customer plan

As a Flexible Space Planning Manager You’ll

Use performance, customer understanding and market knowledge to identify key opportunities for improvement in our flexible space

Scope, plan, manage and deliver large cross-functional projects which drive improvement in our flexible space across a set of defined KPIs. Previous examples of projects within the team: Special Offers, phased promotional plan.

Undertake performance deep dives with support from Flexible Space Analyst. Take a hypothesis led approach during project set ups, pull together performance reviews with a clear and compelling story.

Constantly think end-to-end to ensure that we make the right decision for Sainsburys. Making challenging trade-offs across trading and retail, whilst ensuring that we always make the right decision for the customer.

Collaborate with trading, retail, and marketing teams to build an effective flexible space plan for the year

Lead a high performing team, and work closely with the wider Events & Flexible Space team to ensure that we build a total space plan which aligns to customer mindset and meets commercial and operational objectives. Be a large part of space planning for seasonal peaks and ensuring we have a cohesive customer experience across our space e.g. Easter and Christmas

Support trading teams with key projects to unlock incremental supplier funding

Build a strong, extensive network across the business to gain support and engagement on plans and projects across the team

Strong customer focus, and commercial acumen

Fun, positive, and resilient mindset, with desire to work collaboratively

Excellent communication and stakeholder management – flexing across all levels of seniority

Outcome-led approach, with clear focus on measurable KPIs

Proven experience in successful cross-functional project management

Ability to prioritise decision making / projects, for yourself and team

Proficient in analysing dataeports to generate clear and actionable insight

Skill in condensing complex message into a clear and engaging story

Empower and develop your team, and wider Events & Flexible Space team
