Job Summary

The Senior Investment Strategist Scotia Investments will contribute to the overall success of Scotia Investments Wealth Management by applying financial analysis, business experience and market knowledge to drive high quality research output and deliver short, medium and long term investment outlook and recommendations in support of the company’s business lines and the clients they serve.

Accountabilities

Undertake fixed income and equity research to develop investment strategies and buy/sell recommendations for SIJL’s proprietary managed funds, the trading desk and clients

Provide clear, credible investor-focused advice, services and strategies to support the management of proprietary funds, portfolios and client based strategies

Provide strategic and tactical analysis and recommendations on financial markets and asset classes to investment committees and subcommittees

Offer commentary and analyses via different channels such public speaking engagements, client meetings and media interviews on relevant investment and market related issues to educate investors while enhancing SIJL’s image

Work closely with the product development team to identify new products to enhance the range of products and services offered by SIJL; assisting with the management and execution of all new products and product enhancement across the firm

Conceptualize, develop and maintain proprietary models and tools to support the sales advisory and investment management processes

The ideal candidate should possess:

Excellent understanding of emerging fixed income and US corporate debt markets
Excellent understanding of financial research methods, quantitative theories, statistical concepts, techniques and their applications
Excellent understanding of international capital markets, economic concepts and relationships among various markets
Experience in analyzing or supporting the management of managed equity and fixed income solutions
Highly proficient in creating and interpreting financial and quantitative models
Excellent writing and presentation skills, including the ability to distil difficult concepts into easily understood language

Education / Experience / Other Information

Undergraduate Degree in Finance/Accounting/Economics or a related discipline required.
CFA Charter-holder or suitable candidate to pursue CFA charter
Minimum 2-years’ experience in a similar position
