Here at Serco we are looking for an experienced Administrator to join our Offender Management function at HMP Kilmarnock. Reporting into the Head of Offender Management, you will carry out various administrative duties which aim to support the implementation of various offender risk management processes, including but not limited to, Psychology services, Home Detention Curfew (HDC), Integrated Case Management (ICM), prisoner movements and transfers, prisoner supervision system, and court desk processes.

Other Duties Will Include

As our new Administrator, some of your responsibilities will Liaising with various internal and external disciplines, including prisoner escorting services, courts, legal services, social work and reception function.

  • Processing of travel warrants and liberation grants
  • Supporting the maintenance of prisoner core and electronic records.
  • Collating and providing data to support performance and compliance audits.
  • Providing support in taking minutes from meetings.
  • Responding to legal correspondence and developing and maintaining effective links with partner agencies.
  • Presenting staff & prisoner awareness sessions aimed at promoting departmental functioning.

Due to the nature of the role, it is important that you are able to plan and organise your workload proactively in a busy environment and display a common-sense approach to your workload with the capacity to make reasonable decisions as required.

What You Will Need To Do The Role

This role is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has previously worked in a Legal role with a good understanding of the Scottish Legal System and prison regimes although this is not essential. You must have previous Administration experience such as basic standard of minute-taking as well as good IT skills using Microsoft Word & Excel. Administration qualifications would be desirable however excellent computer and typing skills, will be required to enable you to complete your role competently. You must have GCSE standard education in Maths & English.

You will be confident in your ability to work alone using your own initiative, as well as maintain good working relationships with colleagues in your team. Strong interpersonal skills and good communication is a key part of this role so you will need to have the ability to communicate effectively using a range of mediums. Training will be provided for intermediate/advanced sentence calculation.
