What’s the role?

Shell Energy Europe is looking to hire a product manager who has a passion for the energy transition and wants to use data to enable it. In this role you will be leading our digital team that directly contributes to the forecasting of renewable generation across Europe and creates a solution for the complex pricing of power contracts for internal and external customers. As the Product Manager, you will be accountable for ensuring realizing the business vision and business outcomes by leading a small team of talented data engineers and data scientists.

The goal is to create highly reliable, low latency and increasingly accurate forecasts for electricity generation from renewable power sources and to provide complex pricing in near real-time for serve a wide variety of commercial deals. The Product Manager will h elp define the business vision in terms of product KPIs, driving delivery towards optimizing these KPIs, and take accountability for the commercial and technical performance of the product as measured through these KPIs.

  • Lead a team of data engineers and data scientist to:
    • Produce accurate, performant, and maintainable code
    • Build data research tools with reuse in mind
  • Sets the direction for the product line aligned to business vision and agreed KPIs
  • Liaise and collaborate directly with Traders and Trading Analysts
  • Manages senior level stakeholders for the product across the company to ensure tight orchestration, early visibility on new requirements and early warning on potential issues or unmet needs and problems
  • Provide coaching and a point of focus for tech related enquires for Quantitative Analysts

What we need from you?

We are keen to hear from candidates with the following skills:

  • Power Trading/Commodities Experience
  • Experience in developing highly reliable, low latency data & analytics solutions
  • Statistical background
  • Masters or PhD in STEM Subjects, (Financial Engineering preferable)
  • Phyton
    • Packages: Numpy, SciPy, Sickt-Learn or Keras or Tensorflo
    • Experience using Azure and using data blending transformation technology (e.g. Databricks)
    • Experience using Azure and using data blending transformation technology (e.g. Databricks)

    Beyond that, we’d hope to see as many of the following on your CV:

    • Experience in working with low granularity time series data
    • Experience in working with Data Engineers to get the most out of ETL processes
    • Experience with Azure (Blobstorage, Cosmo DB)
    • Agile best practices – (shared understanding, enough documentation, focus)
    • Familiarity with storage quality practices – (Gold/Silver/Bronze – raw/conformed)
