Job Description
Develop and execute the advertising technology strategy supporting all global media campaigns for Shell. Responsible for ensuring the efficient & effective delivery of all advertising campaigns utilizing technology and ensuring campaigns delivered are brand safe & privacy compliant.
What’s the role?
Manage the overall advertising technology stack for Media. Develop a global technology roadmap to meet the goals outlined by the Media team strategy. Align strategy across all relevant businesses & markets globally.
- Lead the development and delivery of multi-year AdTech strategy and roadmap for Downstream Shell which supports business objectives and campaign requirements to deliver media effectively and efficiently. Serve as the AdTech point of reference for all Downstream marketing teams.
- Work closely with all relevant parties internal (global and local marketing, data privacy, IT, product owners) and agency partners to deliver the plan while adhering to governance and controls to manage Data Privacy and Brand Safety risk.
- Develop joint business plans with key platform partners to deliver value to internal stakeholders. Stay current on external trends via platform relationships, external forums, etc. to ensure Shell’s AdTech capability remains competitive.
- Ensure technology & tools are deployed to allow for the accurate measurement & reporting of marketing campaign effectiveness & efficiency. Work with reporting lead to ensure technology supports measurement & KPI framework.
- Ensure all campaigns deployed by media agencies effectively leverage Shell’s advertising technology stack, are compliant with our verification standards, and are compliant with data privacy.
What we need from you?
- Degree educated or equivalent professional experience.
- Extensive experience in AdTech or marketing tech or media specific experience, across areas including but not limited to:
- Managing Advertising Technology partnerships, programs, or equivalent experience.
- Experience across developing, implementing, and managing marketing technology solutions across digital, social media and campaign management; experience with Adobe marketing stack is a plus.
- Developing digital strategy and marketing experience; programmatic activation/trading experience is a plus.
- Advertising technology expert, with experience of technical solutions across digital, social media, and marketing campaign management.
- Significant technical understanding of the marketing technology landscape and the latest trends in marketing technology, identity management as well as an understanding of an ideal digital consumer experience.
- Significant understanding of digital measurement from a technical and operational perspective.
- Understanding and experience with marketing/advertising technology including platforms such as Adobe, Google, Facebook & Salesforce.
- Key understanding Paid Media and CRM campaigns.
- Strong leadership skills: ability to lead an integrated internal team & agency partners across multiple locations/time zones given the global scope of the role.
- Thrive on navigating a highly matrixed organization and steering cross-functional prioritization.
- Excellent verbal and written communication. Excellent written and spoken English.
- Excellent programme management experience and skills.
- Excellent project management experience and skills.
- Excellent analytical skills, and ability to derive insights from large amounts of data.
- Significant understanding of digital measurement from a technical and operational perspective.
- Ability to influence internally to senior managers, and up to VP/GM when required. Ability to communicate complex concepts to leadership level audience.
- Strong ability to influence externally on agency partners, suppliers, and managed service providers.
- Whilst this is not an IT role, an in-depth understanding of IT operations is required. Must understand how a technical roadmap is managed and delivered via Agile Methodology utilizing DevOps and be able to prioritise and take key decisions on that landscape.
- In-depth understanding of data privacy; be able to educate and coach stakeholders as to the threats and appropriate mitigations in Digital and Social Media.
- Experience developing project plans, setting priorities, and managing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and program management skills.
- Outstanding attention to detail.
