Threat Researcher – Behaviour Protection

We have a fantastic opportunity here at SophosLabs for a Threat Researcher to join our global Behaviour Protection Team. Our highly skilled team of security experts delivers proactive behaviour-based protection against Windows malware.

You will be passionate about threat detection and take a keen interest in emerging threats and the ways and means to protect organizations from the associated risks.

As a member of the Behaviour Protection Team, you will be responsible for:

· Reverse engineering and debugging malware, understanding the complete end-to-end kill chain, from attack vector to persistent payload

· Implementing context-aware & behavior-based detection to provide multiple layers of protection from attacks

· Mapping protection & detection of attack behaviors to MITRE Att@ck framework

· Data mining to discover new threats and opportunities improve protection

· Working with product teams to adapt to the rapidly evolving threat landscape

Key responsibilities:

· Develop behavioral & memory-based protection for prevalent malware families & targeted living-off-the-land attacks

· Produce in-depth analysis of malware behavior & malicious techniques abused

· Consult with development teams to enhance protection features in Sophos products

· Publish blog articles or whitepapers on threat research

Skills & experience required:

The successful candidate has extensive knowledge of Windows internals, is fluent in assembly, and has a knack for getting to the bottom of any issue. You enjoy thinking creatively; combining your deep technical knowledge, your tenacity for innovation, and your can-do attitude to solve complex and challenging problems on a daily basis.

· Bachelor degree in Computer Software (Computer Security preferable)

· Experience in computer security fieldole

· Proficient in Windows debugging of hostile code

· Detailed knowledge of Windows operating system, internals & forensic tools

· Excellent grasp of compilers, disassembly & reverse engineering using IDA Pro
