Learning & Development Manager (Cyber & Networks)

Scope
This job description describes the requirement for a Cyber & Networks Learning & Development Manager (TDM) for training and development across the Cyber & Secure Network function within the SIX UK CBU.
It will involve working with industry placements, apprentices, graduates and experienced Cyber and Network Security professionals.
The successful candidate will lead the training and development plans of cyber apprentices, as well as contribute to the Strategic Capability Plans of the business.
This critical but exciting role will include managing the development of the Cyber & Network teams across the UK at our various sites and will involve some UK travel.
The role will have a high degree of one to one contact with apprentices, co-ordinating their on the job development and working with the Head of Cyber and the Cyber Head Consultant to plan and manage on the job training elements of the development programmes.
This role is fundamental to support the strategic development of the Cyber & Networks function in SIX UK developing SQEP capability to support ambitious growth plans.
A significant aspect of the role will be the development of an Apprentice Framework to nurture young talent and establish an industry leading Cyber capability to address internal Thales and external market requirements.
This role will be a mixture of Home Working and working from our UK offices, base location is flexible.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the training and development activities of the Cyber & Networks function and build Learning Pathways that support the skills development required by the function to meet the strategic objectives of the business.
Develop a Cyber Apprentice Development programme/framework to ensure that apprentices are capable of supporting the business’ needs and develop consistent levels of SQEP to position SIX UK as an industry leading provider of Cyber Security Capabilities.
Act as the Line Manager of Cyber apprentices.
Monitor and manage apprentice on the job skill accrual and support academic progress.
Liaise with relevant Academic institutions regarding apprentice progress.
Attend and participate in Cyber apprentice assessment centres.
Ensure the engineering environment and tools are available and that appropriate training in their use is arranged.
Coordinate academic engagement between academic institutes and Thales.
Facilitate the ‘upskilling’ of established engineering professionals into the Cyber & Networks Function.

Skills, Experience And Qualifications
Experience in the development and delivery of Cyber training programmes.
Mentoring and coaching of both early and experienced team members.
Ability to effectively communicate individual and team development needs to different stakeholders both internal and external.
Reporting of individual’s performance and progress to senior management teams.
Ability to produce well-structured and written documentation to communicate training and development plans.

Highly developed interpersonal skills
Awareness of the importance of emotional intelligence and empathy in stressful situations
Willingness to travel to various UK sites.
