Salary: Up to £26,520 (depending on experience)

Hours: Full time – 36.5 hours per week Monday – Friday (plus some weekend and evening working)

Contract type: Permanent

Location: Birmingham office based & travel across Birmingham & other regions (+homeworking during the pandemic)

We are looking for a Performance and Evaluation Analyst to join our team. You should be able to apply advanced analytical skills to interpret data and deliver evaluation and research to provide insight and evidence to solve business issues and inform strategy and delivery. You should be innovative and have good written and verbal communication skills with an ability to adapt to different audiences.

You will deliver a variety of performance analysis and evaluation across the organization, using a range of analytical tools, including spreadsheets, statistical packages, and performance frameworks. You will provide expert knowledge and support across a wide breadth of data and performance matters, whilst also designing and delivering evaluation, research and insight projects following sound research principles and techniques. You will work closely with the Senior Performance analyst, supporting and contributing with the collection, analysis, and presentation of performance data. You will be also working closely with the Senior Insight analyst and Senior Researcher providing support, guidance and advice on evaluation and research needs.

The post holder will be employed by The Active Wellbeing Society which is a multi-award-winning independent community benefit society which works with some of the poorest communities in Birmingham and Solihull to improve people’s health and wellbeing through physical activity.

The Active Wellbeing Society is a Community Benefit Society, which means that it is controlled by its membership, (users, communities, partners, and stakeholders), and cannot use surpluses for anything other than community benefit. All assets are “locked” for the benefit of the communities that The Active Wellbeing Society serves. It has charitable purposes and is treated as a charity by HMRC.

MAIN DUTIES

  1. Deliver a variety of performance analysis and evaluation outputs across the organisation, using a range of analytical tools, including spreadsheets, statistical packages, Power BI, data visualisation packages and performance frameworks.
  2. Develop and deliver the suite of performance metrics, such as, the organisation’s evaluation framework, balance scorecard, project metrics and contractual measures and metrics.
  3. Provide data mining and analysis of complex and varied datasets, following data extraction, management, processing, analysis and reporting processes, as appropriate.
  4. Develop robust performance measurement frameworks to keep track of progress, adapting our approach in-line with any feedback and changes. This includes, key performance indicators (KPIs), target setting, benchmarks and reporting.
  5. Provide expert knowledge and support across a wide breadth of data and performance matters, and support the Senior Performance Analyst in the collection, analysis and presentation of performance data.
  6. Design and deliver evaluation, research and insight projects, following sound research principles and techniques, including, logic models, surveys, focus groups, interviews, journey mapping, literature reviews and case studies, in accordance with project management principles.
  7. Provide relevant and timely project evaluations and recommendations to support strategic and operational delivery across all projects and programmes, tailoring outputs to different audiences.

  9. Work collaboratively with Research and Insight Team, other directorates and stakeholders to understand their research needs, to implement research and insight processes, in-line with organisational priorities and customer needs.
  10. Use excellent communication skills across a variety of audiences to present information in engaging ways and ensure effective information flows between multiple networks. Produce products, such as, performance dashboards, reports, briefings, profiles, presentations and infographics, for a range on audiences.
  11. Understand and follow sound data analysis processes, techniques, tools and methodologies, and adhere to information management, governance, and legislation, including data privacy and data protection legislations, including GDPR.
  12. May be responsible for a defined part of a project, small internal business project or a new process.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Experience and skills of delivering a variety of Performance analysis and evaluation outputs using a range of analytical tools, including spreadsheets, statistical packages, Power BI, data visualisation packages and performance frameworks.

Experience in designing and delivering evaluation, research and insight projects, following sound research principles and techniques, including, logic models, surveys, focus groups, interviews, journey mapping, literature reviews and case studies, in accordance with project management principles.
  5. Experience in communicating across a variety of audiences to provide and present information in engaging ways and ensure effective information flows between multiple networks. Produce products such as, performance dashboards, reports, briefings, profiles, presentations and infographics, for a range of audiences.
  6. Understanding and experience of providing relevant and timely information, evaluation and recommendations to support strategic and operational delivery across all projects and programmes, tailoring outputs
  7. Experience of working collaboratively to understand research needs, to implement research and insight processes, in-line with organisational priorities and customer needs.
  8. Demonstrable understanding of sound data analysis processes, techniques, tools and methodologies, and experience of adhering to information management/government legislation including data privacy and data protection legislation, including GDPR.
  9. Have an analytical and methodical approach to problem solving.
  10. Good use of initiative in identifying and negotiating appropriate personal development opportunities.
  11. Ability to absorb and apply technical information.
  12. Once in post, have a thorough understanding of the role and how it relates to other roles, and to the business of the employer.
