Prospectus is delighted to be recruiting a new Head of Finance for The Change Foundation, an impactful charity that has for the past 40 years changed the lives of disadvantaged young people using sport and dance. The charity runs a variety of programmes such as Netball for Change that uses sport to teach girls about the dangers of social media, and Street Elite that works with marginalised teenagers and which has a 80% success rate of getting young people into work, employment or training. They also run a cricket project at their Cricket Centre in the London Borough of Sutton for refugees mainly from Afghanistan. Their London Futures programme works with young people with a disability helping them to secure their first job. More recently the charity has set up a community walking sports programme for older people at their Cricket Centre and they also work overseas, for example with the Bryan Habana Foundation in South Africa and the Joshua Buatsi Foundation in Ghana.
The Head of Finance is a critical role for the organisation to ensure that the charity moves forward and that income and expenditure remain in balance. The role is based at the charity’s headquarters in their very own cricket ground and centre in Wallington, South London (near Croydon) and which has easy parking. Working Hours can be arranged flexibly as required. Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Head of Finance will carry out the full finance function of the charity and be an active part of the Senior Management Team, which overseas all of the charity’s work and strategic direction. You will monitor income and expenditure and using Sage produce monthly management accounts and accounts for each of their programmes. You will make payments and reconcile all these on a monthly basis, and will work closely with the charity’s Treasurer and Board of Trustees to ensure the successful running and governance of the charity as well as overseeing the annual external audit. You will also contribute to the strategic thinking as well as the financial aspects of grant applications.
The successful candidate will have excellent finance experience, and will be fully/part qualified or qualified by experience. You will have the experience and drive to manage all the operational finance aspects of the role as well as supporting on the strategic direction. You will ideally have experience of charity finance including restricted and unrestricted funding, with the ability to build strong relationships internally as well as with Trustees and external suppliers. In addition you will be able to demonstrate a passion for the charity and the mission.
