The role:

Open to part time and full time applicants (3.5-5 days each week) this is a fixed term opportunity, covering maternity leave from early June 2022. Your purpose would be the ultimate success of the People Team at Tutorful; leading a small but excellent team, including a People Experience and Culture & Development Lead, along with an occasional in-house RPO representative/s.

Your leadership skills and day to day work would champion Tutorful’s culture and enable a high performing teams continual development in order to build on our blueprint for all things people. With a current team size of around 70, following a period of growth through 2021, it’s an exciting time to join a business experiencing change as we transition into our next phase of growth and work towards our series B.

Duties of the role:

  • Support and coach our team through, and embed a culture of positivity around change
  • Take shared accountability for the development and progression of members of the People Team
  • Mange and advise on ER cases as they arise
  • Coach our leaders and team members through challenges
  • Develop upon our established culture of wellbeing
  • Implement and strategise around retention, development, process maturity and culture
  • Take accountability for the company’s recruitment activities, identifying and embedding suitable solutions where appropriate
  • Support the People Team with areas such as learning and development, training, case handling, finance, administration and office management
  • Represent our team at Executive level, attending weekly meetings and prepare for quarterly Remuneration Committee meetings
  • Support our Finance Director collaboratively, as required
  • Partner with business leaders, ensuring a mutually beneficial relationship, enabling effective partnership for overall business success
  • Align People Team priorities and focuses with the needs of the business, often translating them to your direct reports
  • Keep yourself and the team up to date on compliance and employment law developments
  • Seek feedback and insight from the wider business to proactively draw from their expertise
  • Ensure the decisions, actions and behaviors of the People Team, as a collective, act in the best interests of the company and our shared culture

Ideally you could spend a day each week, or three days each month in our Sheffield office. We’ll fund your travel here and, depending on your location, you may also be eligible for accommodation expenses.

Role Skills:

  • Experience of supporting a high growth, ever evolving business
  • An understanding of startup culture, its challenges and its benefits
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Experience in a similar role, of a similar level
  • Proven record of success in a role like this
  • Learned and acquired leadership skills
  • CIPD qualified to level 5 or 7
  • Experience of working at senior level and leading a team
  • Genuine passion for and an absolute bias towards humans
  • Strong coaching, leadership and interpersonal skill sets
  • A proven ability to lead and succeed with vulnerability, fairness and compassion
  • An overwhelming need for success, and an enjoyment of performance based pride
