The Faculty of Science are looking to appoint four Senior Education and Student Experience Administrators. One will be based in the School of Mathematical Sciences, one in the School of Computer Science, one in the School of Biosciences and one across both the Schools of Physics & Astronomy and the School of Chemistry. These new senior administrators’ roles will be key members of the Schools’ Operations Teams with a specific focus on Education and Student Experience (ESE). This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with staff and students to support the student experience activities and operations.

You will work closely with academic colleagues such as Senior Tutors, Course Directors, and the Director of Teaching & Learning as well as the School Operations Team. You will also have close links with the Faculty Education and Student Experience team and will have opportunities to build a community of practice with colleagues doing similar roles in other schools. You will undertake a range of duties associated with teaching, student experience and student administration which are vital to ensure a quality learning experience. This may include:

  • administration and coordination of ‘Welcome and Induction’ activities for new students
  • supporting the operation of Learning Community Fora (LCFs)
  • monitoring student engagement and analysing feedback
  • maintaining School Moodle pages
  • developing and delivering wellbeing events and celebrations
  • supporting equality, diversity and inclusion initiatives
  • co-ordinating peer mentoring initiatives
  • supporting careers activities and placement provision

The post will require flexibility, initiative, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, as well as excellent IT and communication skills. You will be thorough and meticulous in your approach to tasks and focussed on delivering a high-quality professional service to students and staff. To work effectively across a range of ESE activities you will be highly organised with good interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop effective relationships and engage with staff and students at all levels.

You will have a HNC/HND, or equivalent plus English and Maths at GCSE or equivalent, or substantial work experience in further or higher education.

This is a permanent post. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours) ; however applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 21.75 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part time and the number of preferred hours. Job share arrangements may be considered.
