It’s an exciting time for our future Shetland operations and we want you to be a part of that! Can you be the focal point for one of the largest onshore wind farms? We’re building the Shetland-based service organisation where this role will be key and contribute to a more sustainable future!


Sales > SBU NCE > Service Region, UK/Ireland

Operating within the Vestas Northern & Central Europe business unit, we focus exclusively on selling, constructing, and operating onshore wind power plants in the UK and Ireland. With offices in Dublin and Warrington, Service UK and Ireland is responsible for the service and maintenance of our customers’ wind power plants in both markets.

The Viking wind farm, owned by SSE Renewables – a world-leading developer and operator of wind energy, will be a 103-turbine, 443MW onshore wind farm that will harness the great wind conditions on the remote Shetland Island to produce enough energy to power almost half a million homes. When complete, it will be the UK’s largest onshore wind farm in terms of annual electricity output, playing a crucial role in contributing towards the country’s net-zero targets.


  • Ensure safety & quality standards are delivered, while also ensuring process adherence.
  • Effectively manage the site/area as well as external service capabilities maximising profitability in line with contractual obligations to the specific clients, and Vestas corporate requirements.
  • Deliver operational performance to meet requirements of forecast and planning.
  • Project management of key dates and deliverables during the commissioning phase and into the full operation of the new windfarm
  • Direct line management responsibility of local field operations team.
  • Continually implement change management in line with operations development.
  • Develop the skills and competencies necessary for the organization at local level in line with operations management.


  • Proven history of an operational or service management role; for example, a project management, field service or contract management position
  • Solid leadership experience, developing and mentoring on site teams
  • Business improvement skills and experience to enable operating in a fast-changing environment, ideally with Lean knowledge
  • Engineering background working in a complex industry is desirable
  • High degree of Safety Management & Systems understanding
  • Experience in building a great relationships with clients, the council and the local community

  • Solid stakeholder management skills both locally and as part of a large matrix organisation
  • Business understanding and information / data analysis
  • Developed problem-solving abilities

Additional Information

This role will be based on Shetland and be responsible for the site teams located there. This is a full-time permanent position located on site.
