The client is a world-leading marine live-stock business which distributes and manufactures a large range of other products associated with fishkeeping and animal husbandry. An exciting opportunity has arisen within the finance team. Your role will be to work alongside the financial controller and finance team to deliver monthly Board Pack.

Responsibilities:

Assist with preparation of monthly management accounts, including accruals and prepayments
Support the Financial Controller with monthly consolidated accounts
Support in the development and production of forecast, budget and plans
Annual financial reporting and assist with year-end audit
Maintain and reconcile direct debits and bank accounts
Responsible for fixed asset register and depreciation
Prepare VAT returns and analysis
Prepare ONS returns
Ad hoc finance reports and project tasks as and when required by senior management
Work with key stakeholders to support the development of understanding of key business processes

Required skills and approach:

Studying towards a professional qualification or prior practical finance experience in a similar role with some month end accounting experience and a firm grasp of double-entry bookkeeping
Strong Excel skills will be required as part of this role
Able to see tasks through to completion in a timely manner
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills capable of building effective relationships
Questioning and enquiring approach with a proven desire to seek out new methods that will allow more efficient provision of accurate financial data
