The Role

Reporting into the Head of Policy and Delivery, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Building and maintaining excellent working relationships with community groups, representatives and other stakeholders to maximise opportunities for meaningful engagement and communication between the Mayor/ Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime and all our communities in West Yorkshire.
  • Organising community engagement events and developing and delivering on campaigns, providing guidance and briefings on a range of issues to senior leaders to continuously improve standards in policing, criminal justice and community safety.
  • Co-ordinate the effective delivery of the Safer Communities Fund on behalf of the Mayor/ Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime to deliver on the outcomes and priorities agreed by the Mayor and partners in the Police and Crime Plan and engage more effectively with our communities.
  • Working with a range of tools including social media and internet-based resources to increase the understanding and awareness of the work of the Mayor/ Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime and partners across West Yorkshire.

About You

You will have the following key skills, attributes, education, and experience

  • A relevant degree or appropriate, relevant experience.
  • Experience of engagement and delivering on consultation.
  • Experience of public and partner events organisation.
  • Proven experience of ability to work in a pressured environment with competing demands.
  • Willingness and ability to travel across West Yorkshire and nationally to attend events as needed.
